Paint Selection » Colors and Brands
What We Recommend
When choosing a paint, we recommend supporting our local retailers, as they are the frontline for our paint. However, they might not necessarily carry all of the colors. Ordering directly from the factory allows you a greater variety of color selections/full palette of color selections if the retailer doesn’t carry the entire line.
We apply two coats minimum with high quality paint. These high quality paints are: Duran, Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore, however, you may choose any other brand of paint if you desire.Tips on Choosing Paints
Painting an interior room with your favorite color and doing whatever you want with your walls and ceiling could be bad news. There some things should know before painting your home.
Paint Color Psychology: Did you know about color psychology? Color psychology is how the color has some psychological effects on you and others in the room. You notice some restaurants have red-colored walls. This is because red has a stimulating and exciting effect. It helps stimulate your appetite. Green has a relaxing effect, it helps your eyes relax when reading or studying. Knowing the different effects of each color will help painting contractors apply the best colors in any space in a home.
Paint Color Schemes: The second thing you should know about interior home painting is in reference to color schemes. Color scheme refers to how you coordinate the colors of your walls and ceilings with furniture and curtains. Walls color should be a shade lighter than sofas and curtains. Ceilings should also be lighter than walls. The best option is bring a sample of colors home when you choose your wall paint or ask a painting contractor during a color consultation.
Paint Types: Do you know what type of paint to buy? Different room types require different types of paint. The different types of paint are latex, oil-based, acrylic, and enamel. Each paint is used in particular application. An example is enamel paint is best for woodwork and wood-finishing on walls and ceilings, however would not be ideal for concrete-finish. The best way to figure out what type of paint to use would be going to your local hardware store or calling your local painting contractor.
Finish Type: Lastly before starting to paint, you should know what type of finish you want for your walls. A glossy finish may not be good for a front room or living room where reading or watching TV is a major activity. A glossy finish will cause a glare, and be unsuitable for your eyes. To avoid some problems, pick a matte finish.
These are simple concepts that are easily over looked. Hiring a painting contractor alleviates the need to worry, however sometimes we want to do it on our own to save money. There are books and the internet; but then again, you have to exert an extra effort for research, and it seriously takes a lot of time. So, it is up to you to decide whether you would do it all by yourself or hire an expert on this.
